Attention ALL Scouts-BSA, Girl Scouts and Leaders

February 10 is Scout Sunday

Scout Sunday celebrates the birthday of Scouting and calls all Girl Scouts (including Senior, Cadets, Juniors, Brownies, and Daisies) and Boy Scouts (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Explorers and Sea Scouts) and Leaders to do their duty to God by worshipping together! All Scouts are invited to attend the 9 am Mass in full uniform. Pews will be reserved in front of the Church. For information, contact the Troop 463 Charter Organization Representative, Barbara Thawley, at thawb@aol.com

After the 9 am Mass, Scouts and Scout Leaders from Troop 463, sponsored by Holy Cross Parish, will be in Lewis Hall to answer any questions and provide an opportunity to join our Troop. Scouts will also be selling $5 Camp Cards. Proceeds will be used to support Troop 463, purchase equipment and help offset the costs of summer camp.

Looking for Adults and Scouts For New BSA Troop for Girls ages11-17

Girls have been involved in BSA programs for Scouts (ages 14-21) for many years through BSA Explorers, Venturing Crews and Sea Scouts. Now, beginning in February 2019, BSA is forming new BSA Troops for female youth (ages 11-17). We hope to start a BSA Troop for Girls here at Holy Cross! Girls will have the same opportunities, leadership training and program as boy troops including the chance to earn the Eagle Scout rank.

Several girls and their parents have indicated they want to join our new Troop: Troop 463 GT. Establishing the new troop for girls is dependent on sufficient commitment from both youth and adults. We need at least five adults and ten youth for a new troop. All adult volunteers will receive BSA Youth Protection Training as well as Archdiocesan Virtus training. No experience is necessary. You do not have to be a parent of a scout to volunteer. Adult volunteers are also needed as Merit Badge Counselors.

Stop in and talk to the scouts in Lewis Hall after the 9 am Mass or contact the Charter Organization Representative, Barbara Thawley, at thawb@aol.com for more information. You are also invited to come to one of our Troop 463 meetings on Monday nights at 7:30 pm in Lewis Hall to learn more.
